Grant Recieved for iPad

Community Foundation logoWe are pleased to announce that the Dauntless Fire Company has been awarded a grant through the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. This award will go towards the purchase and installation of a ruggedized iPad in Command 226. This equipment will allow the command officer quick access to vital information during an incident.  It will store information such as building preplans, fire hydrant locations and flows, hazardous materials data, and important contact information.  With a single piece of equipment we will be replacing year’s worth of bulking and outdated binders that currently house the information.

This iPad will also provide safety information during vehicle accidents dealing with today’s high tech vehicles.  Knowing the location of things like batteries, fuel cells, power lines, air bags, seatbelt pretensioners, and reinforced materials are critical during a vehicle extraction operation. This app can save precious time and the lives of victims and firefighters.

The iPad is currently being configured and will be put into service soon.
