Federal Fire Prevention Grant

AFG Fire Prevention & Safety Grants

We are pleased to announce that we have received funding for fire prevention activities and training through the federal Assistance to Firefighters Fire Prevention and Safety Grants program.  This grant was received as part of a join program developed between 14 fire departments spanning 6 counties.  As part of this program the participating fire departments will share the following:

  • 3,900 dual sensor smoke alarms to be distributed and installed throughout their communities. There will also be 150 strobe light smoke alarms for the hearing impaired.
  • 7 laser-drive fire extinguisher training simulators.
  • 14 projectors and associated training materials.

The “host company” for this project will be Phoenix Volunteer Fire Company of Hollidaysburg.  They will administer the grant funds and distributions of the funded items.  The other participating companies are Dauntless, Lakemont, Ashville, Gallitzin, Hope, Nanty Glo, Portage, Revloc, North Fayette Township, Homer City, Young Men’s, Trucksville, and Bolivar. More details about this program will be coming in the future.
